This 2 day cycling journey takes you through the heart of Kerala’s backwaters and coastal countryside, starting on Day 1 from Pallathuruthi to Karumadi and Mannarasala, where you ride along quiet canal-side paths, lush paddy fields below sea level, and traditional villages rich in local life and culture. On Day 2, the route continues from Thottappilly through Thrikkunnappuzha to Karunagappally, blending scenic canals, houseboat jetties, fishing hamlets, and refreshing coastal stretches, offering a relaxed yet immersive cycling experience that beautifully captures Kerala’s rural charm and waterside landscapes.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Pallathuruthi to Mannarasala

The cycling day begins in the morning at Pallathuruthi with a brief orientation on the route, safety, and equipment before riding through tranquil backwater landscapes and lush paddy fields. Along the way, enjoy scenic canals with houseboats, fisherman nets, coconut groves, and glimpses of local life including village homes, toddy shops, temples, and lakeside paths. The first stop is Karumadi to visit the famous 9th-century black granite Buddha statue, Karumadikuttan, followed by a short refreshment break. The ride then continues through narrow, palm-shaded pathways past traditional Kerala houses, paddy fields, and lotus-filled ponds, finishing at the serene Mannarasala Nagaraja Temple, where the sacred forest setting offers ideal moments for photos and stories about Kerala’s ancient serpent worship traditions.

Day 2 : Thottapally to Karunagappally

The day begins in the morning at Thottappilly Beach with a warm-up session and briefing by the tour leader before cycling along the scenic coastal belt towards Thrikkunnappuzha. En route, the ride passes through traditional fishing villages where you can watch fishermen at work, see boatyards and coir workers, and enjoy striking views of backwater canals merging into the sea, along with quiet sandy beach stretches cooled by sea breeze and lined with coconut palms. A refreshment stop is made at Thrikkunnappuzha Beach, with an optional visit to the nearby boatyard or the memorial of the legendary warrior Chembil Arayan. The journey then continues through picturesque coastal routes and village communities, passing farmland, coir weaving units, local markets, and serene backwater edges, before concluding in Karunagappally town with a cool-down session, group photos, and an optional transfer as arranged.
